Triathlon
I've decided to do the Nautica Malibu Triathlon. I'm still not sure why I'm doing it. It's a 1/2 mile swim in the ocean, 18 mile bike ride, and 4 mile run. The bike and run are not that big of a deal. I like going to the beach, looking at the water, but not going in the water. There's sharks out there. And jellyfish and pirannahs. Okay, maybe not pirannahs, but still, many other flesh eating creatures looking for food. I know, I know, some people say I'm being melodramatic, but this goes into the catagory I call "irrational fears". But still...if I get eaten by a shark, you'll all realize it wasn't irrational.
I did the same Triathlon last year. During the swim, the lifeguards kept asking, "Hey, you okay out there" and "Need any help". My response was, "I'll make it!" Did I think I'd make it? Not really, but I couldn't surrender and admit defeat. When I got out of the water my first thought was I'd rather run a marathon again in the blistering heat than swim in the ocean.
