HR and their silly rules

Okay, maybe they're not that silly. After months of requests and denials, my company has finally decided to help me pay for school. I have all the approvals from my management and was planning on submitting the paperwork to HR next week. I would've done it earlier, but I haven't received grades yet since I just took a final a few days ago and have another one in a few more days.

I emailed HR asking if I could file them early next year. They responded today saying no. So I ask when the latest day to submit is, and they respond "noon today at the latest".

Great, I have a few hours to get approval from both of my professors that I will pass the classes that I have yet to finish, have the school fax a letter stating this to me, pull my boss's boss out of a major meeting, then get the paper work to HR.

I'm thinking, there's no way this is gonna happen. I work at a company where we buy $1000 hammers and it takes weeks to buy simple things like screws and washers.

Somehow, I'm still surprised about it, but somehow it all got finished.

Today is a good day.

Today is also a good day for another reason, a very good day, but that story will have to wait...
