The Crash
So what happened?
After a nice relaxing day and a trip to Home Depot w/ P, we're heading east on Jefferson. As we approach Playa Vista Dr., a Ford Escape decides to make a left turn right infront of us and we hit her at about 40mph. The airbags went off, the frame got twisted, and everything in the front is demolished. Even though my car is totaled and the other car has some pretty bad damage, no one was hurt. If I had hit her car a little different or if she had turned a split second sooner, the accident could have been really bad. My car hit the Escape right at the front passenger tire. If it hit the Escape a little further back it could have caused it to flip over and a lot harder impact on my car. If it hit a little further forward it could have caused both cars to spin out and run into other things like lightposts and fire hydrants. In either case all of us would have probably gotten hurt alot worse. P went to the doctor just to get checked out today and his doctor said it was a miracle that none of us were hurt.
So what have I learned from this?
That God loves me and will always take care of me. This isn't the first time that he's saved my life and I'm sure it's not the last. In Erwin's message on Sunday he read a passage that said:
"I have loved you," says the Lord.
But you ask, "How have you loved us?"
I know one way God has loved me is by keeping me safe. I don't mean the warm fuzzy feeling of comfort and security, but safe in terms of as long as God doesn't want me to be hurt I won't be hurt.
So what's next?
The accident is clearly the other drivers fault, so there won't be much debate about that between the insurance companies. However, they probably won't want to pay me full value for my car. I a seeing a lot of debating with the insurance companies over the settlement. :( Once they declare the car officially totaled I'll go get my next car...
