Nestle USA's Chairman
A few months ago I had the privlidge of attending a seminar with the Chairman/CEO of Nestle USA. He's a Christian and was sharing about his experiences being a christian in the workplace. I was reminded about the seminar today at Mosaic when Erwin was sharing about "Drive". The following is some notes that I've written in my notebook.
Good Leaders:
-have good character
-are good communicators
-are good listeners
-empower others
-earn respect (be trustworthy and respect will follow)
-are change agents
-are servants
-act decisively
-create a sense of urgency
-develop other leaders
7 Principals of success:
-pray and read 1 chapter or more a day, pray for wisdom daily, Rm 8:28
-plan (failing to plan is planning to fail, do not procrastinate, have a bias for action)
-be committed to a strong work ethic if you cant deliver it, don't promise it, "Most of my success I haven't learned a darn from, but my failures I have learned a lot from"
-protect your reputation, "be sure your sins will be exposed"
-have a passion for what you do, "I've never met a successful person who didn't have a passion"
-be an agent of change, welcome change, thrive on change
-servant-leadership, "If you want to lead, first be willing to follow"
Other thoughts:
-"It's God's money, not yours & you will be judged on what you do with it"
-"It's not what you have, but what you do with what you have"
-"Servant-leadership: too often Christians default to the servant side and are not leaders"
